Agatha Christie’nin unutulmaz dedektif kahramanı Hercule Poirot’yu 1989 yılında başlayan ve halen devam maratonda ünlü oyuncu David Suchet canlandırmaktadır. David Suchet’in Poirot karakterinde bu kadar başarılı olmasının ardında pek çok faktör bulunmaktadır. Kendisi rolü kabul etmeden önce Agatha Christie’nin bütün kısa öykülerini ve romanlarını dikkatle okumuş ve analiz etmiştir. Çekimlere başlamadan önce yoğun çalışma ve bilgi toplama döneminden geçen Suchet durumu “Onu gibi olmaya başlamıştım” şeklinde açıklamaktadır…

David Suchet çok farklı görüş ve eleştirilere karşın büyük bir çoğunluk tarafından Poirot’yu canlandıran en başarılı aktör kabul edilmektedir. Kitaptaki Poirot’ya en çok yaklaşan da kendisi olmuştur. 2007 yılında David Suchet 65 yaşına geldiğinde (Mayıs 2011′de) kalan tüm Hercule Poirot öykülerini film yapma arzusunu dile getirir. 2011 yılında seriye ara verilir ancak 14 Kasım 2011 tarihinde kalan öykülerin 2012 yılında çekileceği resmi açıklaması yapılır. The Lemesurier Inheritance haricinde bütün Poirot öyküleri böylece David Suchet tarafından tamamlanmış olacaktır.

Dizinin her bölümü, ilk başta gerçekleşen cinayeti izleyiciye gösterir, komiser Columbo’nun olaya dahil olmasının ardından, yavaş yavaş
kanıtları toplayıp katili köşeye sıkıştırır fakat davranışlarındaki tevazu ve katile yaklaşımında son ana kadarki nezaketini asla bozmaz…

Olay yerine intikali sabahın erken saatlerindeyse, kahvaltı olarak portakal suyu ve haşlanmış yumurtayı tercih eden kahramanımızın pardesüsünün altından çizgili pijaması dikkatli gözlerden kaçmaz. Bu esnada evlidir fakat sürekli ondan bahsetmesinin yanında, karısı asla ve de asla fotograf olarak bile görülmez dizide. Başka bir ilginç bilgi ise Columbo kahramanımızın soyadıdır ve ilk adı hiç bir bölümde geçmemiştir hatta bir bölümde ilk adı kendisine sorulduğunda komiser cevabını vermiştir…

Olayları çözme yöntemi ise katil olduğunu bizim bildiğimiz karakterle arkadaşlık kurar, aptal polis rolüne bürünür bir süre. Finalde ise katilin tüm söylediğine ikna olmuş halde kapıdan çıkarken geriye dönüp ”Bir şey daha var” dedikten sonra, olay ile ilgili bütün ayrıntıları gözler önüne döküp katile sol kroşe vurur. Bu yöntem hiç bir zaman değişmez…

1977 yılında TRT de altı bölüm olarak yayınlanan, kölelik ve özgürlük kavramlarını masaya yatıran mini dizi Kökler (Roots), 1767 yılında, Afrikadan köle tücarları tarafından kaçırılıp, Amerika’da köle olarak köle olarak satılan Kunta Kinte’nin hikayesi anlatılmakta. Afrikada sıradan bir hayatı olan Kunta
Kinte, ava çıktığı bir gün, dış dünyadan gelen köle avcıları da Afrika sahillerine çıkmıştır. Siyahi halkı yakalayıp ülkelerine köle olarak satmaya götürürler. Yakalananların arasında Kunta Kinte de vardır. Kabilesinden, annesinden babasından ayrı bir diyara giden Kunta Kinten’in yeni hayatı artık işkence ve aşşağılanma içerisinde geçecektir…

Kölelik ismi olan Toby’yi kullanmayı reddetti. Kökleri onu yaşama bağladı ve kahramanlıklarıyla kuşaktan kuşağa fısıldandı. Ta ki Tennessee’de yetişen bir gence ulaşıncaya kadar. Onun adı Alex Haley’di ve Kunte Kinte’nin ismini Dünya’ya duyurdu…

Kunta Kinte’nin, özgürlük mücadelesine girdiği bölümlerde ise, izleyiciler, bazı sahnelerde gözyaşlarını tutamayacak, Avrupa’nın kapitalist ve sömürgeci zihniyetinin Afrika’yı nasıl sömürdüğüne şahit olacak ve daha önce bu diziyi izlemeyenler bile Kunta Kinte ismini artık hiç unutmayacak. Dizi boyunca izleyiciler savaşlar, köle ayaklanmaları gibi ABD tarihindeki birçok önemli olaya da tanık olur. Dizi ayrıca, 1978′de 35.Altın Küre Ödülleri’nde En İyi Tv Dizisi ödülü de almıştır…

Yıl 1999. Ayın karanlık tarafında kurulmuş olan Ay Üssü Alfa’da nükleer atık depolama ve bilimsel araştırmalar yapılmaktadır. 13 Eylül 1999 tarihinde yapılan bir dizi hata sonucu büyük bir patlama olur. Bu patlamanın etkisi ile oluşan zincirleme reaksiyon öylesine büyük bir güç ortaya çıkartmıştır ki Ay dünya yörüngesinden çıkıp uzayın derinliğine savrulur. Ay Üssü Alfa’da bulunan mürettebat ve bilim adamının dünyaya geri dönme şansları yoktur. Üzerinde bulundukları ay onlar için artık adeta bir uzay aracına dönüşmüştür…

Uzay Yolu, Gene Roddenberry tarafından yapılmış, 8 Eylül 1966′dan 3 haziran 1969′a kadar yayınlanmıştır. 80 bölüm hazırlanmış bunlardan 79′u gösterilmiştir. Üç sezon kadar kısa süren bir yayın hayatından sonra sendikasyon’a geçmiş ve orada kendine geniş bir hayran kitlesi edinmiştir. Programın başarısı kendisinden sonra beş seriye ve on televizyon filmine olanak vermiştir. Guinness Rekorlar Kitabı tarafından en çok yan ürünü olan program olarak listelenmektedir. Program resmi olarak sadece Uzay Yolu olarak isimlendirilmiş olsa da kendisinden sonra gelen diğer ürünlerle karıştırılmaması için Uzay Yolu: Orijinal Seri (TOS ya da ST:TOS) olarak adlandırılmıştır…

Uzay Yolu 1966′da NBC’de gösterime girdiği zaman başarılı değildi. Reytingler düşük, reklam gelirleriyse yetersizdi. İkinci sezonda iptal tehlikesi baş gösterdi fakat sadık hayranlarının mektup kampanyası sayesinde bir üçüncü sezona hak kazandı. Buna rağmen NBC Uzay Yolu’nu kimsenin seyretmediği bir gün ve saat olan Cuma 22:00′a koydu ve en sonunda dizi üçüncü sezonu sonunda yayından kaldırıldı…

Uzay Yolu ülkemiz ekranlarında 70′li yılların sonunda TRT 1′de yayınlanmıştır.

Dizi televizyon izleyicilerini daha sonra alışılmış hale gelen bilim kurgu terimleri ile tanıştırdı; Warp sürücüsü, ışınlanma, kablosuz el aletleri ve tarayıcılar, enerji silahları, masaüstü bilgisayar terminalleri, lazer ameliyat, uzay gemisi görünmezlik aletleri, ve bilgisayar ses sentezi. Bu terimlerinin bazılarının bazı örnekleri varsa da daha önce hiçbir zaman tek bir sunumda bir araya gelmediler ve teleziyon için kesinlikle yeniydiler.
