Agatha Christie’nin unutulmaz dedektif kahramanı Hercule Poirot’yu 1989 yılında başlayan ve halen devam maratonda ünlü oyuncu David Suchet canlandırmaktadır. David Suchet’in Poirot karakterinde bu kadar başarılı olmasının ardında pek çok faktör bulunmaktadır. Kendisi rolü kabul etmeden önce Agatha Christie’nin bütün kısa öykülerini ve romanlarını dikkatle okumuş ve analiz etmiştir. Çekimlere başlamadan önce yoğun çalışma ve bilgi toplama döneminden geçen Suchet durumu “Onu gibi olmaya başlamıştım” şeklinde açıklamaktadır…
David Suchet çok farklı görüş ve eleştirilere karşın büyük bir çoğunluk tarafından Poirot’yu canlandıran en başarılı aktör kabul edilmektedir. Kitaptaki Poirot’ya en çok yaklaşan da kendisi olmuştur. 2007 yılında David Suchet 65 yaşına geldiğinde (Mayıs 2011′de) kalan tüm Hercule Poirot öykülerini film yapma arzusunu dile getirir. 2011 yılında seriye ara verilir ancak 14 Kasım 2011 tarihinde kalan öykülerin 2012 yılında çekileceği resmi açıklaması yapılır. The Lemesurier Inheritance haricinde bütün Poirot öyküleri böylece David Suchet tarafından tamamlanmış olacaktır.
